Biography
Professor Thinh Nguyen brings more than 25 years of experience practicing technology law, much of it alongside companies building artificial intelligence. His career has spanned big firm technology practice, open-science advocacy, AI start-ups and large-scale industrial AI.
He began in the Technology Transactions Group at Wilson Sonsini, handling intellectual property transactions for start-ups and established technology companies. As Counsel for Science Commons, a Creative Commons project housed within MIT's Computer Science & Artificial Intelligence Lab, he worked closely with leading AI researchers — an experience that led him to join an AI company founded by an MIT researcher.
As Executive General Counsel at GE Digital, he led legal teams supporting the development and commercialization of AI, machine learning and Internet of Things applications across aerospace, additive manufacturing and electrical utilities. He continues to advise the AI, machine learning and data science communities on intellectual property, commercialization, privacy and security.
Professor Nguyen also serves on the Judicial Management Council of Florida, where he advises the Chief Justice of the Florida Supreme Court on artificial intelligence strategy for the state's courts.
